Leiden
High pressure, 2026
Leiden University and the university of applied sciences share a 2026 high-pressure market, with DUWO as the student landlord. University Housing is largely reserved by the institution. Direct Offer is the temporary route if you are not nominated. ROOM registration time is what ranks you when a room uses a waiting list.
Listed among the highest-pressure student cities in the 2026 Landelijke Monitor Studentenhuisvesting.

Open from age 16. How long registration stays valid was published as 8 years at launch — confirm that on ROOM.nl. You respond to rooms on Roommatch or the landlord's own site, not on ROOM itself.

Standing ruleDUWO University Housing is mostly reserved
Almost all University Housing rooms are held by schools. You only get one if your institution nominates you. If it does not, DUWO Direct Offer covers temporary rooms in Amsterdam, The Hague and Leiden. The nomination window itself is not one national date — check your faculty. Check DUWO for current dates.
Check ROOM.nl for the current date.

Standing ruleLottery or waiting time is printed on the ad
There is no single national draw date. Some rooms go to the longest registration time, others by lottery. The advertisement says which. Check ROOM.nl for the current rule on a specific room.
